About Giclée prints:
A giclée (pronounced zhee-klay), is
an individually produced, high-resolution, high-fidelity, high tech
reproduction done on a special large format
printer. Giclees are produced from digitally (using a computer with
suitable software) produced images or scans of existing artwork.
The Giclée is quickly becoming the new standard in the
fine art industry, and is widely embraced for its astonishing
quality by major museums, galleries, publishers and artists.
Giclees can be printed on any number of media,
from inkjet canvas to watercolour paper to vinyl, to transparent acetates. Giclees
are superior to traditional lithography in nearly every way. The
colors are brighter, last longer, and are so high-resolution that
they are virtually 'continuous tone', rather than tiny dots. The
range of colour for giclees is far beyond that of lithography, and
details are crisper.
The prints are created using professional 8 or 12-colour ink-jet
printers. Durability is ensured by using special inks and paper.
Digigrahie is a brand name owned by the print
manufacturer Epson. Digigraphie® describes a print created: By an 8-colour
Epson Stylus Pro professional printer, with
Ultrachrome™ and Ultrachrome™ K3 inks on certified paper authenticated
numbered and signed by the artist, embossed and accompanied by its
certificate. Aavo Ermel will start to produce his prints using Digigraphie
technology.
