Mr Norbert Salzwedel
Information about the artist

Copper engraving is in the centre of the graphic art, and Mr Norbert Salzwedel is an expert in this field. It is amazing to notice how well he has grasped the nature of the engraving technique when you learn that he stated engraving as late as 1995. He has concentrated on copper engraving since 2000, and from time to time he combines engraving with etching in the same print.

Norbert Salzwedel is born in 1950 in Germany where he still lives. Perishableness is an ongoing theme is a typical print by Salzwedel. Useless and lost objects, rests of humans and animals, leftovers from the nature such as bones, seashells and so on form the basis of his excellent copper engravings. Also themes from the nature around us, often with marks of human presence, are symbols of what will soon vanish.
